Range Mobility COR Certification

 What is the COR?

The COR (Certificate of Recognition) is a cumulative effort by the Government of Alberta (represented by the Partnership in Injury Reduction program) and accredited certifying partners to develop and maintain requirements of a voluntary health and safety program standard. The ultimate goal of the COR certification is to proactively reduce workplace injuries, and the costs associated with them.

How does this benefit Range Mobility?

  • We have created a health and safety management system that prioritizes the health and safety of our employees, at all times.
  • We strive to go above and beyond government regulated standards for health and safety and adhere to all legislated requirements as a minimum
  • We are constantly ensuring our health and safety practices are being improved upon

How did Range Mobility obtain a COR?

The process for obtaining our COR was very involved. Our team began with a gap analysis to identify our starting point. We then spent the better part of two years developing policies and procedures, training staff members appropriately, and implementing adequate hazard controls so we could meet the minimum standards of the audit process or exceed them where we were able to. Once we felt confident everything was in place, we hired an external auditor to complete our certifying audit. It took 4 days on site to review all documentation, conduct interviews with employees, and do a site tour of our facility. After the audit was conducted, a report was generated and sent off to our certifying partner (AASP) for review. On Mar 31, 2020 Range Mobility was notified that we had been granted our first COR and achieved a grade of 88%. We will need to complete an internal audit yearly, and an external audit every 3 years in order to keep our certification and ensure our management system is up to date.

Why is COR important to our customers?

  • Our health and safety practices ensure less loss time of employees, allowing for increased productivity
  • Our employees are provided with the most up to date training available, so jobs are completed quickly and efficiently
  • Customers visiting our site are given a health and safety orientation, and any PPE required to safely tour our facility

Fire Department Response Vehicle

We recently completed a Full-Build for a Fire Department Response Vehicle, including emergency lighting and centre console package on this brand new 2020 GMC Sierra. This is one of the first of the new body styles GM has released for the 2020 lineup and it offers some excellent new options for light placement. This specific customer needed a solution that would not only maximize the amount of emergency and scene lighting, but be able to synchronize it and use it in the most efficient way for alerting motorists and maximizing the safety of the Fire Department employees.

This truck features a 360 degree Whelen Engineering lighting package controlled by their CenCom Sapphire platform. This truck has an unprecedented FOUR Whelen Tracers attached to it to increase side visibility for blocking roads, and increase the overall scene lighting for those low-light recovery situations. The synchronized traffic advisor function included in the Tracers allows for excellent visibility while blocking a road or a large area and as far as we have seen, has never been done before!

The centre console was provided by Precision Mounting Technologies to accommodate the electronics, radios, lighting controller and docking station. Manufactured right here in Calgary, PMT is an industry leader in providing rugged mounting solutions for almost any kind of fleet you can imagine.

Canadian ELD Mandate: Mounting Solutions

What is an ELD?

An ELD is a tamper-proof Electronic Log Device that is mounted inside the vehicle to record Hours of Service (HOS), which is used to improve the Health and Safety of operators and help streamline workflows.

When is the ELD Mandate effective?

The Canadian ELD mandate was officially published on June 13th 2019, stating that Canadian drivers must be ELD compliant by June 12, 2021

What is the Canada ELD Mandate?

Taken from the Government of Canada Website:

“Electronic logging devices are tamper-resistant devices that are integrated into commercial vehicle engines. They are intended to ensure that commercial drivers drive within their daily limit and accurately log their working hours. The devices track when and how long drivers have been at the wheel, and ensure they are complying with the Government of Canada’s Commercial Vehicle Drivers Hours of Service Regulations.”

What’s next?

Range Mobility is one of Canada’s largest resellers of Gamber-Johnson mounting equipment, who specializes in Rugged, Reliable and Responsive mounting solutions for a wide variety of devices. With the ELD requirements being mandatory by June of 2021, the time is now to start thinking about the process of becoming compliant with the new regulations.

Becoming ELD compliant is a financial investment and in order to protect that investment, your fleet deserves solutions to ergonomically and economically fit your operators’ requirements. With Rugged, lockable device cradles you can ensure your investment is protected, tamper-proof and always charged and ready to go!

Vulcan Fire Department Truck Build

We Recently completed a Silverado for the Vulcan Fire Department in Alberta. The build includes a complete Whelen Engineering lighting package with the following equipment:

  • Whelen DUO Inner edge – Red/White
  • Whelen red Ions in the front grille
  • Whelen red T-Ions under the tailgate on on the roof
  • Whelen red Vertex mounted in the tail light housing
  • HHS3200 handheld controller

Using the Whelen Command software, we were able to add more than 13 individual flash pattern profiles to the Inner Edge. These flash patterns will automatically change every 5 seconds to give a constantly changing visual impact on this vehicle. When operator safety is paramount, having variable flash patterns on a vehicle grabs motorists attention much faster than traditional flash patterns. The software and hardware in the Emergency Services industry is constantly evolving and soon Whelen Engineering will be releasing its new CenCom Core and WeCanX platform, which will allow us even more custom options to keep your fleet current and your operators safer.
